FLL 2010
Hello Screaming Outsiders!
Hope you all are having a great summer. I know it seems like a long way off, but the time is nearing for FLL 2010 challenge.
If you are interesting on being on this team this season, please let us know by replying to this post.
Last year was a great learning experience and hopefully we can build on that.
This year's challenge theme is Body Forward:
Through this Challenge, we will explore the cutting-edge world of Biomedical Engineering to discover innovative ways to repair injuries, overcome genetic predispositions, and maximize the body's potential, with the intended purpose of leading happier and healthier lives.

Rehersal for Project
This Wednesday, December 9 we will meet at First United Methodist Church of Edmond about 5:20PM to do the skit in front of a group of parents, educators and others at 5:30 in the CAC. FUMC is located at 305 E Hurd in Edmond, near UCO, between Jackson and Hurd. The CAC is located behind (North of) the main church building. I am making a spaghetti dinner for the children's choir and their families, and you are welcome to eat either before or after performing the skit. Dinner starts at 5:15 until 5:50 (about). Our Choir will start to practice for our Christmas program by 6PM, but if we need to go over any thing we can use the rooms that we will eat and perform in to do so. (rooms 107-108 in the CAC).
If you can not be there at this date/time, please let us know so we are not waiting for you. Please email any questions.
Thanks & See you Wednesday! - Amy

Re: Post from Susan Bohl
Well, The Screaming Outsiders finished thier first ever First Lego League Scrimmage on Saturday, November 21st. The girls did good for thier first time ever to do this type of event. And the determination is now increased and they really want to get "Alfred" (that's their robot's name) to do all the missions. Your Go Girls!

Choosing Missions
We need to watch the missions and make decisions as to which ones we want to try to complete in the 2.5 minutes that we have for each match. Tomorrow, we will watch them all.
Here is the link for the missions: FLL Robot Missions
There are 10 options with points varying from 10 to 25 each. For the time we have tomorrow here are some suggested goals for the mission sub-team:
Here is the link for the rules: Mission Rules
There are additional questions that we may need answers to here: Game Q&A
Take your time to review these; even the teammates that are not specifically a part of the missions sub-team should take a look at them to become familiar with the robots missions.

- review all of the missions
- try some simple programing of portions of more than 1 of the missions
- get everyone familiar with how the sensors work and how to add/remove them
- review the rules for the missions
- make decisions as to which teammates would like to think about becoming "experts" on rules, missions, parts, etc

Research by Team
Some initial internet research has turned up a lot of good information
to use in our Solar Bus skit. Here's what the girls researched and
selected at our last meeting as research material that would be relevant
to our project.
